From what I've read about this topic is they will exchange your iPad Air with an exact model and specs, per battery program. I think it is due to the fact that iPad Air's are put together with double-sided adhesive tape to secure the Digitizer to the metal frame. Unlike it's smaller brethren, the iPhone is easily opened, to replace the battery, by removing 2 screws located on the bottom of and both sides of the charging port. Because of the complexity and time involved in replacing the battery on site, they will hand you a remanufactured iPad Air and you are on your way. I had an iPhone 5 that was affected by a defective battery. Was told to stick around, would take about 30 minutes to finish. My iPad Air has a defective battery as well and I have insurance through DirecTV with ADH. They will try to repair the device, if not, they will replace with same model and specs for only $50
