The phone makes an SOS sound when you try to soft reset it the way you would an iPhone 7/7 plus, even though they're both on the iOS 11. If holding the power button and volume button down at the same time does not reset it, then how would you soft reset the iPhone 8/8 plus?

On an iPhone 8 or iPhone 8 Plus: Press and quickly release the Volume Up button. Then press and quickly release the Volume Down button. Finally, press and hold the Side button until you see the Apple logo.
