How do I remove Amazon Assistant from Mac?

Thank you. I've had my new iMac only a few days and I've just noticed this thing. I used it once and it looked very useful (gave me ONLY what I asked for in the search field, whereas Amazon's search engine gives me so much unrelated to my search terms that I once bought the wrong product) so I was quite disappointed to learn it is regarded as spyware.

1. Open Safari

2. Open Safari Preferences

3. Cick Extensions

4. Click Amazon Assistant Extension

5. Click Uninstall

that was the easiest fix ever. the assistant would shut my computer down at will. so frustrating. and the answer so easy. Carolyn Jones, Love my MacBook Pro.

Hi. I tried this. Amazon Assistant did not show up in extensions but it is in the bar next to the search web area. Is there another way to try to get rid of this? Thanks!

Incidentally, this is definitely some sort of spyware given the fact that before I found this link I had clicked on a previous link and when I did it sent me to an anti-spyware site. Thanks again...
