Since iOS11 Bluetooth keeps disconnecting

Since I upgraded to OS11 my iPhone 6 keeps disconnecting from the Bluetooth in my car, a Mazda 6 2015 vintage. To reconnect I have to select the phone on my cars infotainment unit and off it goes working for a while longer until it again disconnects mid song. This didn’t occur prior to OS11, any ideas?

Hello Pathfineroz,

I was having the same problem with my Bluetooth devices continuously disconnecting and then reconnecting on the iPhone after the iOS 11 update. It did this with all Bluetooth devices such as my car, powerbeats, etc. I use my Bluetooth headphones at the gym and on runs so you can see how this was a huge annoyance for me.

Anyways, this morning I was reading some articles and came across one that suggested I should reset all networks. I did that along with hitting the “forget this device” feature. I’ve been using my Bluetooth wireless headphones ever since I did that (for a little over an hour) and voila I haven’t had any disconnection issues!

I am not tech savvy whatsoever and I didn’t read through all of the comments in this discussion so hopefully I am not being repetitive and I am able to provide some assistance.

I was going to post the same. I got 11.0.3, and Bluetooth is still broken on my Accord still. I've still yet to have the disconnect problem with my Panasonic cordless phone system in the home. It stays connected fine. Just the Accord has problems. I don't use Bluetooth headphones, so I haven't been able to test that. Yesterday after getting 11.0.3, I deleted all Bluetooth pairings from my phone and repaired to the Panasonic cordless set, worked no problem. I then connected to my Accord, and it actually worked and stayed connected for the duration of the (short) try I made. I thought it was fixed until I drove home and it was about as bad as it has ever been, constantly connecting and disconnecting. I think I was disconnected more time that I was connected on the way home last night.

I went ahead and bought a new bluetooth fm transmitter, and it seems to be working properly. The one I use now is an anker roav with 4.2 bluetooth. My other transmitter is a Nulaxy KM20 bluetooth 3.0. The only difference I've noticed is when pairing is that with my Nulaxy KM20 the iPhone asks if I want to share contacts, which is very strange since there's no need for that, it hasn't made a difference whether I allow or not the permission. With the Anker transmitter when I pair, I don't get asked for such a permission. I've also noticed that with a 3.0 bluetooth headset I have, it has no issues and I don't get asked for sharing contacts, not sure if there's a connection there.

Seriously it sounds like ******** to me. Such disappointment coming from Apple. When i was using iPhone 6s, when i was still on iOS 10, my Android Wear smartwatch and my bluetooth headset connection was stable. Until i updated the phone to iOS 11, my Android wear watch started to keep disconnecting but my bluetooth headset was stable.

So I thought maybe changing to the latest iPhone X could improve the situation. I was **** wrong. Now it is the other way round. My Android Wear watch connection is stable and my bluetooth headset keeps disconnecting!

Iphone 6s user. Bluetooth connected devices:

1. Samsung Gear S3 - everyday use

2. Apple Watch (momentarily no longer connected)

3. Bose Soundsport wireless headphones - heavy everyday use with apple music

4. Plantronics Voyager - office heavy everyday use

All these devices randomly disconnect ever since IOS 11.2 update and the problem is still unchanged through 11.2.1 and now just recently 11.2.2.

Music headphones (Bose Soundsport Bluetooth)

My Bose bt headphones disconnect in two ways:

A. The music stops and the just starts again with a click in my headphones, this being the happy scenario!

B. The music stops, and then the headphones message me: “Disconnected from iphone” and in about 1-2 seconds it reconnects, letting me know it did so “Connected to iphone”. This is the bad scenario as apple music hits STOP on headphones Bt disconnect! So I have to go in and restart the song!

Plantronics Voyager bluetooth headset!

Now, I heavily use this headset at the office and speak to people on the phone with both my hands free! Lately (as I explained above, from 11.2 through 11.2.2) it drops the Bt connection randomly in the middle of a call! Sometimes I am away from the desk (surely within Bt range, about max 2 meters) and it just drops, but as opposed to the Bose headphones it dooes not automatically reconnect! Needless to say it’s annoying!

My Samsung gear S3

Everyday smartwatch which emplys two Bt connections with my iphone 6s! Randomly it vibrates to tell me it disconnected from the phone! This is not critical but it goes to show that it is a problem with pretty much every Bt device!

Clearly after reading this thread, this is true!

Lately I have noticed something that unfortunately I cannot substantiate with clear proof! If no app that transfers data is loaded in memory, bt connections do not drop! The moment I use any browser (so far tested only over wifi) the drops begin and are consistent enough to be annoying!!!!

Needless to say that I have tried ABSOLUTELY every solution posted and finally ended up even wiping everything and restoring as new iphone, clean, without even restoring my backup! Just reconfigured everything again and installed apps as I realized I missed them! Same crap!

My desperate hope is that apple knows this! And will perhaps fix it the 11.2.5 build!

I know people (at least 4 immediately related to me) with similar issues ... so I can safely say it happens on iphone 6s and iphone 7

I also have friends and acquaintances that own iphones (6, 6s, 7 plus and X) that said they do not have these problems on 11.2 through 11.2.1, but they are not heavy Bt users! At most they have a smartwatch connected so it’s possible that they have not noticed since it quickly reconnects back!

I also have a friend that thought his iPhone 7 was broken physically but as he talked to his colleagues (also iphone owners) realized that it’s an issue with ios 11!

Also, offtopic, wifi works like crap! It does not drop the connections but it just does not transfer data! Dies not even show a timeout! The progress bar ia just stuck! Lucky though I can use my 4g which seems at least so far to work properly!

been having this issue as well and was tearing my hair out to get the iphone to keep the connection with my car. I noticed that the bluetooth connection was being interrupted by any other activity happening on the phone (i.e. if a notification popped up, or message, or maps on siri.)

The only "workaround" that I have managed to figure out is to:

1. Switch your phone to airplane mode

2. Turn bluetooth on

As long as there is no wi-fi or cellular activity in the background to interrupt the bluetooth connection it is holding a constant connection with my car.

I cant receive calls on chat on handsfree while driving...but at least i can listen to my music without being intereupted every 30 seconds!!!!

Guess the "Apple just works" slogan is fading away pretty quickly!!!
