i need a security code for my itunes gift card

Peel or gently scratch off the label on the back of the gift card to reveal the hidden code. You need this 16-digit code, which starts with an X, to redeem your card.

If you have an older card, the number might appear in different places. Here are some examples:

Content and promo codes might not have a sticker, might not be 16 digits, and might not start with an X.

OK thanks -- I think I understand now (although I still may not be much help). Since you say that you have a balance on your account, it sounds like your gift card has already been redeemed and everything is OK with that. The section where it is asking for a PIN number and expiration date applies only to credit cards, not gift cards. You cannot enter a gift card there. If you have another gift card (over and above the credit balance that you already have on your account, you would redeem it as described in Redeem App Store & iTunes Gift Cards, Apple Music Gift Cards, and content codes - Apple Support

You may be able to select None as a payment method -- see the following if you cannot: If you can't choose None when you edit your Apple ID payment information - Apple Support

If that doesn't help (or at least explain why you cannot select None), you may want to contact iTunes support. You can use the Get Support button in the "Help me with iTunes" section near the bottom of iTunes - Official Apple Support or use the link Eric provided above.

Then when I asked where you are trying to activate it, I meant where are you trying to activate your gift card, you responded:

In my settings folder under payment information all it allows is for a credit card and I don't have that kind of information. But the information is on my Apple ID account and I'm trying to access it

1. I don't know what you mean by "settings folder under payment information"

2. If "all it allows is for a credit card" what does that have to do with your needing a gift card pin?

3. Regarding "the information is on my Apple ID account" -- what information and what does that have to do with needing a PIN to activate a gift card.

Like I said, I'm totally confused about exactly what it is that you are trying to do and exactly where you are trying to do it.

I'm wondering the same thing. Where is it that you are trying to "activate" it?
