When I put a screen recording on iMovie I couldn’t hear the microphone recording.

The real solution to this problem, right now, is to use the TechSmith Capture app. Screen recordings that are recorded with this app work fine when bring them in to iMovie. It does exactly the same thing that the ios 11 screen recording does, only it produces a more usable video that can be edited easily in any app. Try it.

I got confirmation from an Apple engineer that this is a bug. The audio track for screen recordings is placed on the second of two audio tracks, which is ignored when importing to iMovie. It is a known issue.

So I have been working with Apple on that problem with screen recording‘s audio gone missing when opening up in iMovie. The problem arises when you’re doing screen recording’s and you begin to do screen recording‘s of apps that you have open on your iPad it is the recording of the apps is what causes the audio to go missing . I have done extensive testing and have done screen recordings of just the Home Screen with audio and the audio appears in IMovie. When I do screen recordings and begin to open apps during those recordings the audio goes missing. I contacted Spple and have reported all this to them and their engineers are supposedly working on a solution which they say will come in the form of an update.

I’ve had this problem myself so here is the solution that works for me.

1.Screen record whatever you want (a tutorial, you playing a game, youtube etc.)

2.Go to the video in you camera roll

3. Make ANOTHER screen recording of the video in your camera roll

now you will have sound in iMovie but it takes multiple steps, it works, however.

I had the same problem but I fixed it with a trick I discovered. What I did was screen record my screen recording. So I recorded my recording and strangely it worked. I got the audio problem fixed.

using first generation ipad pro with 11.2 installed.

Upon recording a few seconds of screen capture, say 10 seconds, and then import to imovie everything works great... sound is there.

if I make a longer video say over a minute and then import to imovie I have video but no sound.

One work around I have found is to open your video in an app called Splice(free) and save your video there. once saved this "new" video can be opened in imovie with sound intact.

I just updated to the latest iOS (11.2.1) and still having the same issues. Screen recording audio plays fine elsewhere, But once its in an iMovie "Project" the audio disappears.

When Airdropped to my MacBook Pro, iPhone screen recording videos and its audio work fine in iMovie for Mac.

I guess when it comes to iOS screen recording there's no iOS iMovie editing.

i also have gen 1 iPad Pro. Save yourself the hassle, just use the TechSmith Capture app instead. One less step. Record, export, and import. No problem.

I still find the easiest workaround to be recording with TechSmith Capture app instead of iOS 11 screen recording, but good to know there are other solutions out there.

Same problem here even with 11.1.2 but it is not just with iMovie because the Audio also disappears when you try and send a screen recording to YouTube.

I recently let Apple put IOS 11.2 on my iPhone SE and while the audio will now work in iMovie the sound might disappear if you upload it straight to youtube.

What I hate most about the Screen Recording in IOS 11.2 is the fact it doesn't always end when you tap the red bar and the press stop because it will stop recording a few seconds before you do that and it will even stop recording if you press the cancel instead of stop.

Yes recording a playback will get the Audio to YouTube but so will rebooting your iPhone and then trying to record again.

But what I found with the latest released software is it stops the screen recordings too early and sometimes way to early so I started using the beta versions of software where that problem is not so pronounced.

I have a youtube video showing the 4 problems I've found with the 11.2.5 beta software but it wasn't until I played it back that I noticed Apple hijacked the sound track again so I'll have to record a playback then repost.

I already tried updating and it still doesnt have the other audio. What you could do is screen record the recording again, when you put it in Imovie you’ll see it doesnt take out your voice audio :)

Same problem here. Recording screen and voice with the new screen-record feature but the voice disappears when the clip is put into iMovie iOS. The voice is still there when I play it from the camera roll though. Very annoying. Anyone have a solution?
