ATT activation not completed yet

Steps followed so far:


1. Originally plan was a grandfathered plan, so received incompatible message when trying to activate.

2. Updated plan with ATT.

3. After reboots and clean pair of watch, go to set up cellular, login to ATT

4. Asks me to select the plan and continue.

5. Punch continue and absolutely nothing happens.


Note that watch is successfully logged in to icloud, etc and can see from my account on iphone and other devices. However, one curiosity is that under cellular-calls on other devices, the new watch is NOT listed. Am wondering whether this is related.


Anyway, still not activated and also wondering whether this is also related to the lack of info provided to ATT.

Update.


Activated.


Visited att store again. i suggested we double check registration of iemi and eid of newly provisioned line for watch. Iemi was correct. Eid not even close. We updated. Then it worked. Root cause is probably lack of info for att on new watches without prespecification of carrier. Maybe.

I'm sorry to hear this is such a problem for you. Like you, I had a grandfathered data plan which I changed yesterday so I could add the watch to my account. I was able to activate the watch successfully from the Watch app on my phone without intervention from ATT.


The key word seemed to be "wearable." You need to be very specific with the untrained reps. about adding a wearable plan. The watch qualifies for a standalone wearable plan with ATT. There's a special number to call that can assist. Here's a quote from the ATT website:


Want unlimited data on a tablet or wearable without switching to a multi-line plan? Call us at 800.331.0500. Get our AT&T Unlimited Tablet plan for $20 a month or AT&T Unlimited Wearable plan for $10 a month.**​

Latest. Just spent 45 mins on phone with ATT. Line is added to account after providing imei and the eid. A phone number is now associated with the watch. I was then advised to wait minimum 1 hour for this change to propagate through their net. We will see.. I did try again to activate shortly after speaking with them through iphone watch app, same behavior occurred where it just essentially hung when asked to continue after selecting plan under set up cellular.

another update. Still not activated.


Visited ATT store. Having established a device on my account with the proper imei and eid, we had to modify the plan for this device to the $10/month wearable device add on. On the BACK END ATT systems, the device via the aformentioned identifiers indeed registers as an Apple Watch HOWEVER. When I log in to my web account, the new device with its telephone number in fact displays as a Motorola RAZR V3. So, we conclude that the identifiers aren't yet propagated to user facing systems in the ATT world. When I try to activate, I log in to the account, I select (the only) plan, hit continue, zilch- it continues to hang at this point. I did double check the access id on the ATT account being associated with the wireless number of the iphone the watch is paired to, and it matches. So.. thought is that we wait, perhaps some sort of overnight refresh or something might "fix" this on the ATT end.
