iPhone 8 brick

Every year my company upgrades to the latest iPhones. this year we only had 4 people interested in upgrading to the 8. The phones arrived yesterday. my brother got a 64gig and I got a 256 gig. Both regular 8’s. Set the phones up and my brother’s literally Bricked! Screen froze. Wouldn’t respond to any buttons. Siri somehow kept working. Soft reset buttons didn’t even work. That usually breaks any problem. What did work was using find my iPhone to wipe the phone. He wiped it and did a full complete fresh install. That worked. He had the phone running for a couple of hours and the same exact thing happed. Of course we are all making fun that he got a lemon. After another find my iPhone wipe, it seems to be working ok. Then last night, I’m in my car Heading to meet family. I look on find my friends and find who I’m going to see and click driving directs right from that app. works no problem. Then I click on settings cause I wanted to connect to the Bluetooth system in the car. Bricked! Screen froze. The directions are still running though as I can hear the voice directions. I’m holding buttons for soft reset for like 2 minuets straight and phone screen goes black and gets stuck on the little spinning icon that you see right before it shuts down. Stayed with that spinning icon all the way to where I was going. Probably would of stayed till battery died. My brother was actually there when I arrived. we now figured there’s a possible flaw in the 8. Ios11 runs well on the 7. Had no issues. My son says his keyboard is glitchy but that’s the only issues I’ve heard so far. Anyway I used find my iPhone to wipe my phone. I couldn’t believe it actually worked. I thought the phone was stuck trying to shut down and wouldn’t be responsive but it worked. I reinstalled everything and has been working good. It might be an issue while multi tasking but I’m not trying That. Hopefully the flaw is discovered and fixed quickly.

I'd try to give your new devices the time to absorb the new iOS (the amount of time depends on your apps and data's quantity).

And if you want to force restart your new iPhone 8, the steps are different from previuos models.

  • Quick-press the Volume Up button.
  • Quick-press the Volume Down button.
  • Press and hold the Side button for ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
