If CarPlay doesn't work like you expect, here’s what you can check. After each step, try using CarPlay again.
- Make sure that Siri is turned on.
- Restart your iPhone and your car. Depending on your car, you might see the CarPlay Home screen when you turn it on. If you don't, look for the CarPlay logo on your car’s display.
- If possible, connect your iPhone to a different USB port in your car.
- Try a different Lightning to USB cable. Make sure that the cable is certified.
- Update to the latest version of iOS.
- Check your car’s manual for help. You might need to install firmware updates for your stereo.

Thanks! Got mine going again with this. Been so frustrated after i upgraded my iPhone. For some unknown reason restrictions were turning on with CarPlay following update? Couldn’t see the CarPlay settings or anything in my iPhone but this fixed it. Cheers!
I have learned, after all the latest news, that is not so trustwordy anymore to install "update" from apple anymore.
Altough the updates get more and more and more, strange things happend after updates.
I had the same problem with carplay. The hint given here helped, but WHY put it off with an update?
Check your Restrictions:
Open Settings app > Tap General > Restrictions > Enter your passcode > Find CarPlay and turn it on.
Is the an automated answer? It does not answer my question or help me in anyway.
I’m long time CarPlay user and do not need basic information that I can find anywhere :-(
