At the end of Preparing process during update to watch OS4 message appears: "Unable to Verify Update. The Watch OS update couldn’t be verified because you are not connected to the internet".

Apple watch series 2 is on charger, perfect Wi-fi signal through Mobile boradband modem (Mi-Fi), latest iOS11 installed on my 7+, but verifying process failed. Troubleshootings like restarting, resetting, deleting update file, unpairing, pairing etc did not help. Please advice.

The 7th try was the charm for me on WiFi. Reset the Apple Watch to factory defaults, followed by a hard reset before staring the pairing process. Also did a hard reset on the iPhone prior to starting the pairing process. Then updated as part of the pairing process. Note that my first 6 attempts using this approach all failed. For some inexplicable reason, it succeeded the 7th time.

Each attempt took around 1.5 to 2 hours. Not fun. Process is definitely messed up. Seem like the only resolution is persistence - keep at it until it works.

Mine is finally installing this morning. I did a unpair/re-pair last night and still no luck so this morning I plugged my phone into the charger next to my iMac, plugged the watch into its charger next to the phone and iMac, and redownloaded the update(I had deleted the update from my system last night) and after 45min(download time) it went right to verifying and then installing. Not sure what the change was or if it is the Trifecta of Apple but it's working.
