Remove Facebook calendar in iOS 11

iOS 11 removed Facebook integration, but I still see “Facebook Events” calendar in my calendar list on both my iPhone 7 Plus and iPad Air 2. It can’t be removed. In addition the Facebook account still shows up under Settings -> Accounts & Passwords -> Fetch New Data, but can’t be removed from there. It seems like something Apple forgot to remove as part of the update.

How can I remove the Facebook calendar?

Did you figure this out yet? Oddly, my iPhone on iOS 11 does not show the birthdays from facebook but my two iPads show the birthdays. I don't want to see the facebook birthdays, I just want to see my regular birthdays! Unchecking all birthdays is not my ideal solution. I want to rid the facebook connection.

Hi,

I wasn't able to remove Facebook event nor its birthday calendar. But I managed to add a working Facebook subscription webcal.

I like the calendars but the built-in integration wasn't working since no newly added events showed up. Also I wasn't able to add a new Facebook subscription webcal (that´s the solution if you like to have the Facebook calendar, you get the link from Facebooks web-version of the Event site) since IOS noted it was a duplicate. This is how I did it.

1. end all Facebook sessions (Facebook -> settings -> Security and login -> show more -> End all sessions)

2. change your Facebook password

3. get a new webcal subscripsion link to Facebook event calendar (Facebook web-version -> Events -> (to the right) Upcoming events)

4. add the link to a new calendar on your phone (Settings -> Accounts and passwords -> Add new -> Other -> Add subscription cal)

4. un-check (ie don't show) the default Facebook calendar in the calendar app

5. check (ie show) the newly added Facebook calendar in the calendar app

There are many ways to sync Facebook Events to your calendar.

On your MacBook (MacOS), this is setup automatically for you as there is support for Facebook accounts built into the operating system. This is not part of iCloud.

On iOS before 11, this support is also built in. The support for Facebook (as well as many other social media like Twitter and LinkedIn) was removed in iOS11 so the Facebook calendar is not automatically setup on your iOS 11 devices.

You can add it back by subscribing it manually in your iCloud, and this will get synced to your MacOS as well as other iOS devices (see How To Automatically Sync Your Facebook Events With iCal on Your Mac, iCloud for Your iPhone, and Google Calendar | Turb…) . (After you have done this, you might want to remove the first calendar Facebook setup for you on MacOS as iCloud should have pull in another Facebook event calendar for you from your new setup.)
