Health app not recording heart beat after update

I am using a Polar H10 heart monitor connecting to my iPhone 7. After updating to iOS 11 it is not recording my heart rate anymore. Bluetooth discovers the device and the phone can pair it. But the health app does not record the heart rate. When I connect the heart rate monitor to my iPhone on iOS 10 the health app is still recording my heart rate as it has done with the iPhone 7 before the update. Hence the H10 seems to work fine. Also after installing the Heart Beat app by Polar the app can record the heart rate and store it in the health app on the iPhone 7. So, also the iPhone 7 seems to work fine. But the health app still does not record the heart rate on its own as it has done before the update. And using the Heart Beat app is not an option as I am using a different app form my workout and have no interest in switching to the new app (or have them both running). Especially if it worked before. Anybody else experienced similar issues after the update to iOS 11?

Thanks

I had the same problem... on iOS update the Polar H10 belt would not connect to Strava or Polar Beats. I noticed on the Polar site "If you have paired the heart rate sensor in the mobile device settings, Beat app is unable to use it. Please remove sensor pairing from the settings and pair the sensor directly in the Beat app." (How to pair a heart rate sensor with Polar Beat app iOS | Polar UK). I have since removed the pairing from the iPhone settings and "magically" the H10 is now connecting again with both Strava and Polar Beats. Hope this helps.

I want to join Tst75 with this problem.

I purchased a Polar H10 heart monitor to use with my iPhone 6 running iOS 11.

I connected it to Bluetooth through the Bluetooth screen in Settings. It paired right away and immediately started working with the Health app. I was happy. I could see my heart rate in real time. The Health app showed that it was received the heart rate from Bluetooth. Even Nike Run Club showed my heart rate in real time.

I took the Polar H10 off, waited a day, and then strapped on again to go for a run.

The Polar H10 would not connect at all. I couldn't get it to connect to Bluetooth. It would display, I would select it, it would indicate it was connected, and then when I flipped to the Health app, there would be nothing. I would flip back to Settings, and the Polar H10 would be disconnected.

Since then, I am ONLY able to get the Polar H10 to work with the third-party app, Polar Beat. It will not work real-time with any other apps. If I run with Polar Beat, upon completing the run, the numbers show up in Health, but not by itself.

I cannot use the Polar H10 with Nike Run Club or any other app.

Does anyone know of any way to configure the Polar H10 to just work with the phone via Bluetooth and not require the Polar Beat app?

I will send it back if I can ONLY use the Polar Beat app.

Joining the issue. I have a Polar H7, Polar H10, and a Schosche RHYTHM heart rate monitor. These all worked perfectly with Apple Health and other 3rd party apps. Since iOS 11.x, I cannot get either Apple Health or the 3rd party apps such as Nike Run Club to read the bluetooth heart rate from any of the heart rate monitors.

I suspect that Apple wants you to use the Apple Watch as the exclusive HRM, but that takes away functionality I've had with apple for over 6 years.

Not a happy camper, I'm an avid runner (and engineer) and the reason I switched from Apple from Android was for the consistent software - it always worked.

Note: Tried again with 11.2.2, still nothing works.

Same issue here, I'm using the Polar H7 Heart Rate Monitor, that worked seamlessly previously with the iOS Health App, however not been able to receive my heart rate since mid November. I've checked the strap, which functions correctly with the treadmill at my gym, therefore the issue has to be with iOS 11.2.

Most annoying, please can apple rectify this issue?

Im having a similar problem with my new wahoo ticker hr monitor. First time I connected, it worked with health, strava, zwift, nike running app, wahoo fitness etc. Took it off, next day it will only show data when connected to the wahoo fitness app. Can see it in bluetooth devices. It says connected however it will not show in any other application other than the wahoo app? Its clearly a problem as its not only affecting one brand of sensor. Ive updated to the latest firmware, still no different. Tried restarting the phone, still the same? iPhone 7+ iOs 11.2.5. Also sensor is uptodate and applications?

Hi guys,

Also joining the problem here. Tried connecting my Polar H7 with the Nike+ Run Club app but with no success so far. The iPhone accepts it as a bluetooth device but the heart rate cannot be read neither by the Health app, nor by the Nike+ app. The only app that manages to display the measurements is the Polar Beat app (which I don't like to use as a workout app). It worked just fine before the iOS 11 update. I have an iphone 6.

Would thank a lot if someone could discover how to make the heart rate measurements appear in the Nike+ app.

Thanks,

Felipe

Same issue here, just with the Polar H7 sensor. Worked great on my iPhone 7 until the iOS 11 update. Now the Health app no longer recognizes it as a sensor. It still pairs via Bluetooth and works with the Polar Beat app. But as you highlighted, I use other apps for my workouts (Nike+) and don’t want to use the polar app itself.

I chatted with Polar technical support and they weren’t of much help. They could just talk to the Polar Beat app support. They seemed indifferent about Apple Health app support. They mentioned the sensor pairs with a single app, so make sure the Polar app is closed before trying with other apps. I downloaded the Polar app after experiencing this issue, so that’s not it in my case.

Anyone else find a solution for this?

In the mean time, I’m going to be looking to other heart rate sensor brands that officially support the Health app.
