Windows XP on an external Firewire drive

Hello, Is it possible to install Windows XP on an external Firewire drive and start up Windows from that drive. When you buy Windows XP You just buy the one for PC? I never used Windows sorry I am Mac 100%

Mac Mini 1.83GHz Intel Core Duo, Mac OS X (10.4.8), 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
