Dolby Vision freezing Apple TV 4k

Purchased my Apple TV 4k on release day. Hooked it up through my Denon AVR920w to my M series 70-D3 television which has no issue with dolby vision or HDR10. However, once I power down my system and power it back up, the message comes up every time to check my hdmi cable for Dolby Vision compatibility. The issue is neither selection of Yes or No is highlighted....it doesn’t let me do anything. If I hit menu, the screen goes black (as it would if I could successfully hit “yes”) and when the screen comes back, it’s just incredibly fuzzy as it is when the Dolby Vision compatibility menu is up.

My only fix is to unplug my Apple TV and plug it back in. I’m fairly technically savvy but can’t understand why it’s checking compatibility every single time and also why it won’t let me select yes or no! Suggestions?

I'm having the same issue. I'm using a LG OLED65c7p TV which supports Dolby Vision passing through a Denon AVR 4300 that's been patched for Dolby Vision. The issue comes up when starting the system up again later.

I am having the same issue. I don’t believe it is caused by the TV or receiver. It is a software bug on the AppleTV 4K. Dolby Vision is already enabled and works fine. After the device sleeps it occasionally comes back on with the Dolby Vision promotion screen that asks you to check for compatibility. Like others have said, neither option is selectable and pressing the menu button makes the screen go black and swaps to HDR. Then the screen returns to the blurred background effect when a dialog box is in play and Dolby Vision is enabled. The unit is now frozen. A power cycle will fix it but it happens way too frequently.

I have the same problem. I get the Dolby Vision test screen every time I try to watch the Apple TV 4k device. It's connected to a Denon X6400H via HDMI and the Denon is connected to a Vizio "P" series display. The only way to get it to work is to unplug and plug back in. The remote buttons are completely disable for me as well.

I have the same issue too. I have the AppleTV 4K hooked up to a Denon AVR-X1400H to a Vizio M65-E0. It worked fine when I ran it through a different AV Receiver (Yamaha) in HDR10 with no issues. When I replaced the Yamaha with the Denon to get Dolby Vision compatibility, it works initially but when the AppleTV wakes up from being asleep, the screen remains blurry/fuzzy.

I had to unplug and replug the power to get it working again. Today, I did have luck with resetting via the remote when the screen was blurry (hold the Home and TV buttons together until the LED blinks in front of the AppleTV), so you might see if that reset method works for you instead of unplugging the power.

Seeing that I’m not the only one having this issue, I’m thinking it is a bug in the AppleTV software and Dolby Vision setting.
