Can I use NFC on iPhone 6 other than Apple Pay?

As far as I am aware the NFC in iPhone (6/6 Plus, 6S/6S Plus) are limited to actions like Apple Pay and pre-paid store cards through Wallet.

From what I have read about the future of the NFC in iPhone, the release of iOS 11 has given developers new ways to access and make use of NFC. I believe that this is will only be available to iPhone (7/7 Plus, 8/8 Plus, X) and future iPhones as they use a slightly different NFC system than previous devices.
