Q: How to uninstall third party USB drivers, 15" PPC powerbook

Typical newbie error. While trying to connect to new Motorola RAZR 3M, I installed a third party USB driver.

Now, I can't connect to my Palm Pilot through the USB port as per normal.

I see the installed driver in /Library/Receipts/PL2303_1.2.1.pkg.

How can I get this out of my system and get my USB port to behave like it used to?

Particulars: 15" PPC powerbook, 10.4.8.

TIA!!

15 " PPC Powerbook, Mac OS X (10.4.7)

Regarding the two previous posts from LRanger and Ron JACKLE thank you good people, thanks for taking the time.

As for an uninstall option, I could not find it. I tried running the package, but
saw no uninstall option. I even examined the files in the package with vi,
but found no evidence of anything resembling an uninstall option.

I also tried installing the Apple version of the package (thank Ron) in the
hope that it might work, but no. It too has no uninstall option.

I suppose it would be very naive to think I could just remove the package files,
reboot, and have everything return to normal. 🙂

As for it being a "dongle" driver Ron, yes it is, if I understand the term. My Palm connects to the USB port with a specialized, dongle-like cable.

Thanks guys!!

rspauldi...

Sorry, but I got all tied up, without darn thing to cut with, (wink) and just got back to this moments ago.

The other day I wasn't able to download the driver to see the exact name of the installer installs. I finally got the critter to download and peaked into the file and found that name.

-name of file-> osx-pl2303.kext

No- this file is not self uninstallable but is user uninstallable by dragging it into the trash.

Remember to follow administration password prompts, and restart machine before changes can take effect.
