CD doesn't show up. Can't eject!

I inserted a CD with photos on it this morning and it doesn't show up. I can't eject with the eject button or with the eject command in iTunes. Have also tried restarting with option key, still doesn't show up. I don't have a pin hole next to my CD/DVD drive, just a small oval hole. Really important CD. I just used the CD drive yesterday to download some music and had no problems with it. Any help would be appreciated.

Open Terminal, it's in the Utilities folder, and type drutil eject then press return and the CD should pop right out.

Unfortunately probably a failed drive. Other methods are to restart while holding the mouse button down, try to eject it in disk utility if it's visible there, restart your iMac but don't log in and let it just sit at the log in screen for 10 or 15 minutes, apparently there's a default in OS X that will automatically eject a disc after no log in but I've never had to try that. All of the suggestions assume a siftware issue but if it's a hardware issue they won't work.

I thought I read somewhere, although I can't find it now, that someone got lucky by inserting a credit card part way into the slot while trying the various tips and that helped the stuck disc come out.

I inserted a photo cd on my macbook pro (circa 2012), running El Capitan version 10.11.6. The disk won't eject and the media isn't recognized in Terminal, nor does it appear in Finder; I've tried all the suggestions for ways to eject the disk, including inserting a paperclip and credit card into the slot and nothing works. Any other suggestions?
