iOS11 Bluetooth Audio issues with Mercedes-Benz Comand System

Hi there,

Since updating my iPhone 7 Plus to iOS11 I’ve been experiencing constant Bluetooth connectivity issues with my Mercedes-Benz A250’s Comand Entertainment system.

Firstly, the system no longer displays Apple Music metadata information such as artist, track or album when connected and playing music.

Secondly, despite music playing from my iPhone through Bluetooth in my car, the system tends to recognise there is no Bluetooth audio playing, which requires me to disconnect and reconnect the Bluetooth connection to the car to make it work again.

These issues are only happening with an iOS11 device as I’ve other iOS10 devices I haven’t updated are functioning as per normal with the car.

Anyone have any ideas on this issue?

Cheers!

Check with your Mercedes Benz dealer to see if your systems are compatible with the latest iOS version. Manufacturers receive copies of the software to ensure their devices work with the latest iOS and Bluetooth stack. See if MB has an update to their system.

Otherwise, you can try removing the phone from the car, and the car from the phone. On the iPhone go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings. This will reset Bluetooth, but will also remove saved wi-fi passwords. After doing that, put the car into discovery/pairing mode, then turn the phone on, open Bluetooth in Settings to get the phone into discovery/pairing mode and see if the two will connect. It isn't up to Apple to ensure their devices work with all systems, it is the other way around.
