Hi all, I've noticed from other sources and have quickly tested myself, the iPhone 7+ with iOS11 now plays 24bit/96KHz ALAC files with no issue. They didn't used to sync across from iTunes as the limit was 48KHz sample rate, but now they do and they play fine.
I've also tested 24/96 AIF files which transfer and play fine.
Can anyone confirm what other file types are supported and if even higher sample rates are also supported?
Hey, I've noticed the same thing! I used to have to downsample my 24bit 96Khz files but now I found that iTunes synced both entries into my phone. I always thought that this wasn't possible because of hardware limitations but now I am so confused as to why this was just locked from firmware?
I've tested it can play 24/96 ALAC through lighting/usb adapter/dragonfly dac in iPhone 7.
It has also been a surprise to me as this hasn't been announced anywhere.
So I guess no more downsampling to load music into the iPhone..
Also what is the highest bit rate/sample rate available through the Lightning port please?
