Keeps asking to install the USB-C Multiport Adapter Update 1.0 every time I reboot
Every time I reboot my system asks to install this update for my new dongle. What's up?
MacBook Pro (15-inch, Late 2016), macOS Sierra (10.12.6)

Okay - The sequence that finally worked for me is this: remove all cables except power adapter into a regular USB-C port. Reboot the machine. Insert the new Multiport Adapter into a USB-C port. Remove the charging cable from the MacBook(lightning bolt goes away) and insert it into the Multiport adapter and you should now see the lightning bolt again. Check the install now for the update. It will run and make changes then ask you to Re-Boot. Do that and this time the machine took much longer to apply changes - 3 to 4 minutes vs. 30 seconds. When the machine came back and I logged in no more asking to apply the update. The "USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter" now shows in the system Report under about this Mac at version 2.33.

Computer MUST be attached to charger, charging and NO HDMI or USB devices attached.
Yes, try another usb-c port. Once the Multi-port adapter is updated, the MBP will need to restart.
The update states "Charge Cable is connected to your adapter". I did this but it looks like the adapter is not "passing" the juice on to the MacBook Pro. Should I try the charge cable directly into another USB-C port?
Congratulations and very best with adapter and MBP
Nope.
Nope. Apple is so lost and such a disappointment. I've tried every combination and still the notification pops up every time I use a usb-c. Apple is a dud.
