Unable to Install High Sierra

I am running macOS Sierra 10.12.6 on a mid 2014 MacBook Pro 15" retina display.

I downloaded the installer directly from the AppStore. When I click continue to install, I get an error saying "The recovery server could not be contacted."

The error log has the following info:

" Sep 25 13:44:27 MacBook-Pro osinstallersetupd[1988]: Failed to load BridgeOSInstall.framework: dlopen(/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/BridgeOSInstall.framework/BridgeOSInst all, 1): image not found

I don't really know what this means - any help would be much appreciated!

Could you give a bit more info on how your drive is formatted?

Maybe there is an installer error, but this brings up the question:

One of the things that High Sierra will do with Macs with SSDs,

is do an automatic conversion to APFS (the new Apple file system)

but the initial format needs to be "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)"

apparently.

Thanks Nicka for your reply.

I understood differently from Apple Support (could be me getting confused) This is what they sent me;

Hello Martin

Here you have recovery mode options:

1- Recovery mode: Cmd + R

2- Internet Recovery: Alt(option) + Cmd + R

3- Internet Recovery to install latest version: shift + alt(option) + cmd + R

Best Regards

Option 2 will install the OS which the computer was shipped with and option 3 will install the latest version. Have not tried it yet, but will let all of you know.

Cheers

Martin
