Setup bonjour message

Previously I able to setup Bonjour in Messages where I can chat with other Messages users on my local network.

However, I'm not able to setup Bonjour in Messages after I install macOS High Sierra.

There is no bonjour option under Messages > Preferences > Accounts anymore.

Can I know if anyone has the same issue with me?

Thanks

Hi,

Of course you can use the iMessages account but that does mean they are going Off site and back again where as Bonjour did not.

I am toying with the idea that Bonjour needs some sort of turning On as it did in a Previous OS (I am talking quite a while ago now)

Can't see anything on a quick check.

Hi,

This:-

Is still there in Sierra and High Sierra but does not tell you what it refers to.

It is Linked to the Buddy List (s) you have (NOT iMessages)

In Sierra you can Have AIM Accounts but they are not Active.

In High Sierra you can only Add Google or other Jabber accounts like the picture above.

There is no Bonjour Buddy List in High Sierra.

This picture show two AIM valid Buddy Lists plus the Accounts pane of the Preferences.

in fact if the other accounts (non iMessages are Off as in this Sierra Picture) then the Status Item does not appear in the Messages App Menu:-

I hope this helps.

Yes this was a terrible decision by Apple. Add fecal emojis and scrap bonjour that enabled businesses to locally communicate over a network. Businesses rely on messages for employees to communicate especially in the medical and dental field. Come on Apple!!! Wake up! You are abandoning your loyal customers by removing features like this. High Sierra is just not good. It’s like Snow Leopard 2.0
