What is the meaning of Heart Rate Recovery in Watch OS 4

I cannot find the explanation and the mechanism of this function, how does it works on Apple Watch?

I also find the graph in Activity apps difficult to understand. Anyone could explain it?

Good afternoon ialan1,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!

I understand you would like a little more information about the new measurements available on the Apple Watch that provide more details about your heart activity. The best place to start is to view the section of the Sept 12, 2017 presentation where Jeff Williams discusses Heart Rate Recovery and other data that can be measured by the Heart App. Click on the link below and scrub to 22 minutes, 30 seconds into the presentation.

"Recovery Heart Rate, which tells you how quickly your heart rate drops after a workout. A lower resting heart rate and a quicker recovery rate can be signs of improved fitness."
- Jeff Williams

In the presentation, Jeff announced the Apple Heart Study which will be conducted in partnership with Stanford Medicine and will be available later this year via the App Store. Once this is launched, I'm sure there will be more information available to track and understand your heart activity.
Your heart rate. What it means, and where on Apple Watch you’ll find it.
Take care.
