Does Apple TV 3 no longer supported by iOS11 Apple remote? I recently upgraded my iphone 7 and iPad Pro to iOS11, the Apple remote from both devices can no longer find my AppleTV 3.

My 3rd generation Apple TV works for me in the remote app in iOS 11. However, the shortcut in control center only controls 4th generation and the 4K Apple TV. This is mentioned at the start of the article but will no doubt be confusing to others as I also had to look it up.
I have an Apple TV 3 and a 4. The Remote app still works with both, but the Apple TV remote widget in Control Center only sees the 4.
Not really, the widget is specifically for the Siri remote which isn't supported on the 3rd gen (nor are apps).
That’s daft though... my 3rd gen Apple TV cant be found either - why haven’t Apple made the control centre widget 3rd gen compatible (?!) when the remote and tv apps still are...
