Since upgrade to High Sierra Mac Mail will not delete messages from server. Returns error msg: "The IMAP command UID COPY (to Trash) failed for the mailbox INBOX with server error: UID COPY Command is not valid in this state."

If I hold down the option key while deleting, the message(s) appear to be deleted, but when exiting and returning to mail, they are right back.

Wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

Thanks, A little more info: Found that only one account in Mac mail was malfunctions. Deleted and reinstalled, downloaded mail from ATT server (IMAP) and seems to be working now. Will see if prob returns.

Thanks, KaptainKopter

The fix you recommend seems to be working. Previously, after starting Mail the first deletion would work, but subsequent deletes (or moves) gave the error message and the target message would just come back. Just applied your fix and delete a batch of unwanted messages, and it so far, no recurring problem.

[The affected account is a IMAP account]

I've just updated to Version 10.13.1 Beta (17B25c), and this issue seems to have been resolved.

I was having the exact issue discussed here with my Yahoo IMAP account. I tried KaptainKopter’s work around but as in his case, after deleting a message, it kept coming back.

I realise this post does not help address the issue this instance, however, there is light at the end if the tunnel.

Let’s hope that the 10.13.1 Public update is available soon. Very soon.

I too have experienced this 'UID COPY' error message, but for me it doesn't just appear when I try to delete a message; it appears when I try to move a message from my Inbox to any one of my other mailboxes. (sub-folders)

My IMAP account that is affected is actually a BT one, but I think they use Yahoo!, so it does still look limited to Yahoo!

I have discovered that the problem only seems to arise if I try to move more than a single message, though.

If I move one message from my Inbox to another mailbox it does move, but if I then try to move a second message from my Inbox within a short period of time I get the UID COPY error.

But... if I close my Mail window, (not quit, just close the window), and do other stuff for a few minutes, when I reopen the Mail app window I find that I can now move another message successfully. It is as if the mail server isn't allowing two messages to be moved within a short time of each other.

Let us hope that the 10.13.1 update solves this.
