Too many unread e-mails.
I have an iPad. After updating to OS11, mail now shows 2500 unread e-mails. Even when I mark them as unread they return it as unread.

I had this problem on my iPhone. Mail showed 218 unread emails when I had no unread emails. Here's what I did to finally solve this problem.
1. Open Mail and navigate the screen that shows the content of All Inboxes.
2. Tap Edit in the upper right corner.
3. Tap Mark All in the bottom left corner of the window.
4. Tap "Mark as Unread."
5. Close the Mail App and open it again.
6. Go to the All Inboxes screen, tap edit and mark all as before. This time select Mark All as Read.

This works fine. Thanks.
Do I have to do this every time I get mail?
Since the latest update (11.0) my unread folder always manages to leave some read messages uncounted.
What I do is to change from the unread folder to the inbox screen where it shows no unreads. So just leaving the unread folder clears the count.
I just think its clumsy.
Why can’t it be like it was before the upgrade?
They changed the font and design in the mail which is nice and pretty but somehow they screwed with the code that updates the unread count.
Sloppy testing apple!
I have an iPhone 6s+
Thanks for the tip.
As I do this it seems that old e-mails are being uploaded as i do this so there is always a large number of unread e-mails.
