How do I set up AirPort Extreme?
I have a spectrum time Warner ubee Router:modem. Should it be in Bridge Mode or should the AirPort Extreme be in Bridge Mode or both.

Either the Ubee modem/router is in Bridge Mode, and the AirPort Extreme is in Router Mode
or
The Ubee modem/router is in Router Mode and the AirPort Extreme is in Bridge Mode
Both devices cannot both be in Bridge Mode.
It does not really matter which configuration you choose, unless there is some special feature that you need on the AirPort Extreme that would require that it be setup in Router Mode with the Ubee in Bridge Mode. I'm not sure what that might be, but you may have a preference one way or the other.
Otherwise, things will be a lot easier, and the setup will be much simpler, if you run the Ubee Modem/Router as it was delivered, and the let AirPort Utility on your Mac automatically set up the AirPort Extreme in Bridge Mode.

Solved! I went into the Apple Store on the UES and they had me (1) take the UBEE Modem/Router out of Bridge Mode, (2) Turn the wireless off on the UBEE Modem/Router and (3) Put the Airport Extreme and Airport Express into Bridge Mode.
One of them must be the router and one should be bridge mode.
You will find a lot of cable modem routers supplied by ISP are expected to be used as the main router and do not even allow bridge mode option.
So for most people use the Airport in bridge.
If you really want the Airport to be your router, then you can buy your own single ethernet port pure cable modem .. after checking it is on the list of supported modems by your ISP.
What model is the ubee? if it has 4 ethernet ports and wireless it is definitely a router.
If you really do want the AirPort Extreme to operate as your DHCP and NAT router, then you should ask Spectrum to exchange the Ubee modem/router.....which you do not need....for a simple modem, like one of the Zoom models.
Very few modem/routers work well when they are set up in Bridge Mode to operate as a modem only, because that is something that they were not really designed to do. Sure, it can work for some users some of the time, but overall it is not the type of setup that I would recommend.
Thanks Bob. It's a UBEE DDW36C. Has four ehernet ports. I did a call w Apple Support and they had me put the UBEE Modem/Router in Bridge Mode and the AirPort in something like DHp/Nat. It worked really well for a couple of days but then really started slowing down again
So, Apple Support on the phone had you set up the Ubee in Bridge Mode and the AirPort Extreme in DHCP and NAT Router Mode.
And, Apple Store support had you do the opposite.....set up the Ubee as a modem/router and run the AirPort Extreme in Bridge Mode.
Did I get that right?
Yes! Frustrating but glad it seems to be working
