my phone is sending duplicate text messages

When I text someone they’re getting two of the same message from me

That is usually a carrier problem. Sometimes you can resolve it by just turning the phone off and on again. You can also try resetting your network settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings. Note that you will lose any saved WiFi passwords.

I understand that when you text someone they are getting duplicate text messages. It's important to make sure that you can send messages without any issues. I have something for you to try.

Does this happen with all contacts? If so, I suggest closing the Messages app and restarting your iPhone. This can help if the app isn't responding like it should.
