Macbook Pro Mid 2012

Hello,

I have a Macbook Pro Mid 2012 and I want to hook it up to my Monitor which has a Type C USB port. So I thought if I get a Mini Display to a Type C USB cable would it work? Like I want that whole feature when it project to my monitor and charges my laptop at the same time.

Please let me know because I buy the cable or adapters I need.

If you are using a MacBook Pro 2012 you have a Mini Displayport / Thunderbolt.

It will not communicate to USB-C.

Here are some specs. About Thunderbolt ports and displays - Apple Support

You can get a cable to go from USB-C to Mini Displayport/Thunderbolt but it will not go the opposite way.

Thunderbolt3 will work with USB-C but you will need to upgrade to at least a 2016 MacBook Pro to use that.
