Should I do pre order delivery or pre order pick up for the iPhone X?

So I'm planning to get the sliver 256gb iPhone x and right now I'm really debating if I should do in-store pick up or deliver if I do delivery will it be delivered on launch day? And if I do in-store pick up is there a chance it all the phones would get sold before I get there so now I wouldn't be able to get the phone if anyone could help that would be great:)o

I was told (By apple purchasing) that the fastest way to get it is to pre-order and pick up in store. I was guaranteed that if I did that they would have my phone there at my appointment time. They said the walk-ins would not be guaranteed. If you are in no hurry to get it then have it shipped to you. You can skip all the lines too.

It really won't make a difference whether you want to pick up in-store or have it delivered. One way over the other doesn't increase your chances of getting one on launch day. Your order is placed in queue as it's placed at the moment you place it. It's highly probable Apple will sell out of iPhone X quickly when pre-orders open at 12.01 AM PST on October 27th. And as orders continue to be placed, approximate delivery dates will be what people will see. At that point, one would not know when they'll get their iPhone until their status changes to preparing to ship and then shipped.

If you don't place an order, it will be virtually impossible to get one on launch day, period. I fully expect there to be much angst over the orders of iPhone X. There simply won't be enough stock available to start. And from what I've been reading, it could take weeks to months to catch production up to demand.

If you want to stand inline, go for it. I did it once and it was fun, as my local Apple store fed us throughout the day while we waited to get our phones. I did it once, but now I just have them shipped to me, since it doesn't make any difference.
