I have a 2 month old iMac. After recently updating to High Sierra, I notice that the Textedit app screen now flickers. I can duplicate it every time by the following: use command-F to search for a word in the document. Textedit finds the word and now the screen is flickering. It is the only app on my computer that does this. It never did that on Sierra. Anybody experiencing this?

This Bug exists because it has not been reported to Apple.
Once Apple receives at least 10 reports it will be worked on.
TextEdit has become dysfunctional. I was on the phone with apple support for about an hour regarding this issue. They were unable to help. Even after a High Sierra re-install. Didn't make any difference. I finally gave up and downloaded a free text editor called Tincta. Works really good, in fact, much better than TextEdit. After many years with TextEdit, I'm saying goodbye...
I have had text disappear when adding more words into an existing document (the next paragraph disappeared). Also noticed that when I hit the delete key a few times to correct typing, that they old spelling remained there in gray for a second or two, which was really annoying
Same problem here, with VS Code, Google Chrome and Spotify. It all works fine until something triggers it, than views start to flicker and disappear. Only restarting the app solves it. I assume it affects applications which have a web-based frond-end. I'm running Mac OS High Sierra with the supplemental update (inDesign bugfix).
I have the same problem with long texts in TextEdit, with many typographic enhancements and web links (near 30 to 40 sec. before my text of 100 000 words stops). But no problems with the same text in pure .txt... Effectively, in full screen mode, only few seconds.

Every time I start a search in TextEdit the screen flickers until I close the file. After High Sierra upgrade.
It may be if the search string has multiple instances, I'm unsure because it makes TextEdit unusable.
To make the flickering happen even more, drag to make the Textedit screen larger.
Yep exactly same issue here! Using VS Code, lots of flickering. It is really REALLY painful on the eyes.
[Edit] This problem has not been resolved with the 10.13.1 update… Perhaps less long flickering ? 😠
I have been running 10.13.1 for two days now. So far, I'm not experiencing the problem anymore.
I've been noticing it in Google Sheets in Chrome. Certain other pages in Chrome act similarly. The page will go to black and start flickering, then acts really weird when I scroll.
I am also experiencing this issue with Google Sheet in both Chrome and Safari.
I don’t what trigger the flickering. It happens time to time.
Anyhow, it’s annoying !
For me, after a document opening, TextEdit becomes to flicker when I scroll to another place.
Waiting for the next HS update, I replaced it by the text editor Bean, that does not have this problem...

I installed 10.13.2 today.
The flickering on Mac TextEdit continues. Seeing this on to Mac Pro Silver towers and one MacBook Pro.
Problem is worse on larger documents.
