How do you add a ringtone to iTunes when there is no 'Tones' bar?

Hi 😉


I am trying to add a ringtone to iTunes but there is no 'Tones' bar in the library section. I have a m4r file (the ringtone) and when I try to open it in iTunes nothing happens. I believe this is because it is a 'Tone' and not a song, and I have no 'Tones' in my library previously (hence no 'Tones' tab).


I have tried going into preferences to 'show' the 'Tones' tab but I cannot find such an option. I have also bought and downloaded a ringtone on my iPod and then synced it to my iTunes but this does not bring up the ringtone in iTunes, nor does it create a 'Tones' tab.


So now I don't know what to do!!! Help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Rysz, thanks so much for your help! It worked.


Here's what I did for future reference:

- connected my device to iTunes

- clicked 'my iPod' on the left hand toolbar

- clicked 'tones' to show all the ringtones currently on my iPod

- found the ringtone I wanted to add (in a folder on my computer)

- dragged it onto the screen showing the ringtones currently on my device

- ringtone added!!

By the way my ringtone is a thirty second snippet of fantastic jazz-funk called "More Stuff" by Dr. Strut!!!!
