HDR Resets on Apple TV

It looks like each time I turn on my Apple TV, it's back to SDR and chroma 4:2:0. If I choose HDR and 4.2.2 it seems to work fine and checking the cable seems ok also. Picture looks great but as soon as I turn off and on I have to set it again. Anyone else experiencing this? Connected to a fairly new Samsung 4K tv with new hdmi cable.

I might have found the solution. My tv has an hdmi uhd color option under display settings. I turned it on for the hdmi port I use for the Apple TV and I think that might have fixed it.

Almost the same issue, although in my case, HDR works when the Apple TV is connected directly to my Samsung UE55KS8005 TV. However, when running it through my Yamaha RX-V781 it switches "down" to SDR as it detects that HDR is not supported. What I have done:

- Been to Advanced Settings and changed 4K mode to 1
- Purchased a new (expensive) HDMI cable that undoubtedly supports HDR (Forest, spec says speed exceeds 18 G bps)
- Fiddled around with some other video settings

So far, no success. I can always connect the Apple TV and other devices directly to the TV and only run the audio through the receiver, but my wide absolutely insists on having the volume control display on the screen when adjusting up/down, so this is not really an option (unless someone knows a way to have that happen).

Really hope someone can help!
