Camera processing - iPhone 8 or iPad Pro?

I'm looking to take clinical pictures on an Apple device so have been researching the choices available to me. From what I can see the iPad Pro 10.5 has the same 12mp f/1.8 camera as the iPhone 8. I don't need twin lens as I will mainly be taking closeup photographs. Both have Optical Image Stabilisation on the rear camera and as far as I can see these are the same mechanical units.

My question is around the Image Signal Processor, how similar are they? The A11 Bionic has "improved pixel processing, faster low-light autofocus and better noise reduction" but how does it compare with ISP in the A10x in the iPad Pro 10.5? Low-light autofocus is crucial for me.
