ringtone will not work ios 11

Since upgrading to iOS 11 my designated ringtone will not work. I have it designated in settings, have rebooted phone, unchecked and rechecked, it still will not work.

Hey sseashell98!

I see you're having some trouble with your ringtones. I'd be happy to help..

Something I wanted to take a moment to clarify is how you're selecting these ringtones. Are you going to Settings > Sounds & Haptics and selecting what you want from there, or are you setting up ringtones for specific contacts? If you're doing both; great. If you're only doing one, let's make sure they're both set up. Here's how, just in case:

Change your ringtone

  1. On your iOS device, go to Settings > Sounds & Haptics.
  2. Tap the sound that you want to change. You can change your Ringtone, Text Tone, New Mail sound, Calendar Alerts, and more.
  3. Tap on the name of a ringtone or alert tone to hear it play and set it as the new sound.

You can also set a Ringtone or Text Tone for a specific contact. Find the person in Contacts, then tap Edit in the upper-right corner. Tap Ringtone or Text Tone, then choose a new sound.

Once you have them both configured, restart your iPhone like this:

How to restart

  1. Press and hold the Top (or Side) button until the slider appears.1
  2. Drag the slider to turn your device completely off.2
  3. After the device turns off, press and hold the Top (or Side) button again until you see the Apple logo.

  1. Your iOS device has a Top button or a Side button. Either way, they do the same thing.
  2. With iOS 11 or later, you can turn off your device by going to Settings > General> Shut Down.

Afterwards, test the ringtones and see if there's any change. It'd also be helpful if you let me know how these ringtones were obtained. Did you download them through the iTunes Store, or were they downloaded through a third-party source? I'll take it from there.

Same issue here. This issue began Since upgrading to iTunes 12.7. The only way to sync a ringtone is to drag your tone from a finder window into iTunes. My phone is configured to use the specific ringtone but when my phone rings, it uses the default ringtone. If I change to any other tone on my phone, the phone will ring properly. So this is only affecting ringtones transferred to iPhone from a finder window. Rebooting does not fix the issue.

NEW Tones purchased through Tones App/Store work fine. Tones that I purchased from iTunes, years ago, do not work!! The Arkansas Fight Song is one example. I purchased it. May have turned it into a Tone myself, I can't remember. But it always worked until iOS 11. VERY VERY frustrating! Please fix this!... or tell us how to fix it.
