hashtagimages on iPhone

While trying to adjust settings to save battery life I discovered a setting called hashtagimages (1.0MB) turned on under Settings, Cellular, Cellular Data (list of apps permitted to run on data). I cannot find any info about it online, or here in the support communities. Anyone know what it is and if I turn it off how it will affect my iPhone 7?

Hashtagimages is something to worry about for battery life and data usage. With it turned on you are accessing data from a remote server and causing a drain on the battery for this useless “benefit”. Pulling graphics off a remote server is a concern if you don’t want this juvenile addition to the keyboard.

This is nothing to worry about, it is the built-in Apple keyboards image search.


It is called #images by Apple (or HashtagImages in Cellular Data). If you turn it off in Cellular Data, the image search in the default iOS keyboard will no longer get images. That's all.
