Are there any versions or types of Final Cut or FC Pro or HD or Express that can work on a GMA 950 card?

I bought a mac for video editing, and so they sell the new ones to be incompatable with final cut?

EDIT- And if not, are they going to make the next versions compatable with the GMA cards?

Sorry, I should have specified more...

I recently purchased a macbook OSX...

It uses a GMA 950 graphics card, which, apparantly, most if not all final cut programs will not run on because they are not compatable with this type of graphics card. It seems rather stupid, I think, to bring out a new macbook on which final cut does not work...

I just want to find out if there are any version of Final Cut or FC Express or FC HD, or Pro, etc... that can run with the GMA 950 graphics card, and if none can, will the next versions of Final Cut be able to?..

Final Cut Pro and most of the other pro apps WILL run on a MacBook - Motion will NOT. Although Apple has made it very clear that the Studio package is NOT supported on the MacBook (or the MacMini), many people seem to be running it without issue on those systems. One thing that MUST be upgraded is the amount of RAM. The MacBook's graphic card shares system RAM and there's not enough in the stock configuration to run the OS and FCP at the same time.

Final Cut Studio is supported on the MacBook Pro.

After I install the program, I try to run it and it stops me, telling me that the program is either not supported by or not compatable with my GMA 950 graphics card... I have a new macbook. The program will not run.

It is Final Cut Express HD 4.5, I think... I don't know how outdated that is, because I obtained it from a family member that used to own a mac.

I've been told that no versions of final cut will run on a GMA 950 card, so I'd just like to know if there are any alternative video editing software choices for the mac that would work on this card.

Hi man, sorry to hear about your macbook.

To clearify your questions and problem. I have a white macbook core duo (not core 2 duo) with the same GMA card you have, but I have 2 gigs of ram (the most I can get in).

To your questions:
- Final Cut 5.1 DOES run, no problems at all. Even with multicam.
- Motion 2 DOES run, again no probles at all. No degradation either.
- DVD Studio DOES run, no problems at all.
- Compressor DOES run, but it does take longer that my Intel core duo iMac. I believe this is due to the slow hard drive and not the graphic card.
- LiveType DOES run, no problems yet.
- Soundtrack works, but I don't use it so I removed it 😝

Even though I got Final Cut 5.0 to work in my iMac, I really really really don't recommend it to you since its slower than in a low end G4. Why? 5.0 and below (4.5, 4.0, 3.0..) are made for PPC and not intels. 5.1 and up (5.1, 5.1.1, 5.1.2) are made for intel.

And just for the record, Final Cut Pro 5.1.2 works faster in my "low end" macbook than in our "high end" dual G5 I use at work.

Hopefully this helps you.

It is Final Cut Express HD 4.5, I think<<</div>

There isn't a Final Cut Express HD 4.5 (yet). The current FCE version is FCE HD 3.5.

But if you're talking about Final Cut PRO (not Express), then FCP HD (version 4.5) will NOT run on an IntelMac properly. You'll need to up/crossgrade to FCP 5.1. See http://www.apple.com/universal/crossgrade for details on Apple's limited time offer.
