Cannot update 10.7.5 to High Sierra

I'm trying to update my MacBook Air (2011) OS X 10.7.5 to High Sierra. When I try it says: This update requires macOS version 10.8 or later. I attempted to update software and there are not any updates. Now what? Thanks.

That's right, OS X 10.8 is listed as the minimum requirement: macOS - How to Upgrade - Apple.

Since 10.8-10.10 and 10.12 are no longer offered unless you previously downloaded them, install 10.11 and then upgrade to High Sierra: https://itunes.apple.com/app/os-x-el-capitan/id1147835434?mt=12.

If you previously downloaded an intermediate version, then download it from the "Purchased" tab in the Mac App Store.
