why can't I use no country redirect when searching with safari?

It's a simple setting in google chrome when I search from the address bar I search google.com and I am not redirected to the local country I am in for results. With Safari I have to take the extra steps of trying to go to google.com and then get redirected and have to scroll down to the bottom of the page and click used google.com instead of google.it or .de or wherever it is I happen to be. I just want to search from the address bar.... come on safari.... get it together...
