Open folders in new window (high Sierra)

With High Sierra the Finder windows behave differently.

- Why can I not have "Open folders in a new window"

- Why must I hide the side bar to get the above functionality back?

- Why should I hide the toolbar to get folders to open in a new window?

- Is it possible to force set these parameters through terminal?

- Why is in the Finder preferences "Open folders in tabs instead of new windows" not working?

Why am I forced into using those tabs? I really dislike using them.

Why changing this again? Let the user decide what to use!

Hi Roland -

I had the same immense frustration but found the solution (thank god!):

System Preferences > Dock.

Change "Prefer tabs when opening windows" to "Manually".

Here's the source of my info: MacOS Sierra command N not working

Cheers,

Sharon
