Received empty box from FedEx

This is so frustrating. I ordered an iPhone 8 Plus from apple.com on Sep.25 and it was delivered yesterday noon. No signiture required. It was left with the doorman. I picked it up after work around 6pm and found the box a little too light. But the package was perpectly sealed and I didn't think too much. When I opened the box - wow only the receipt was in the box! It was totally empty! I was so frustrating and called Apple. But the lady on the phone was only able to file an investigation and let me wait for 24-48 hours to ckeck email and see if there's any update. She said when the investigation is complete, I may be able to get a new one or a refund..


Did this happen to anyone before? How did Apple and the carrier deal with it?

2nd Update: received an empty box again today! Once again box was sealed but inside plastic bag was broken. Called apple again to resolve this, submitted an investigation again but specialist said this may take longer to figure out. Filed a claim with UPS. Hope to hear from them soon.


I would drive 100 miles to pick up rather than have it shipped!!
