High CPU% with mail client macOS High Sierra.

Anyone else notice high than normal CPU% usage for their mail client after installing High Sierra?

I was doing work on my MacBook, when I realized it was running hot; fans turned on.

Went to my activity monitor, and it indicated how "Mail" was hogging between 100% and 212% of my CPU, and all four threads. No other tasks seemed to be using more CPU than usual.

iMac (27-inch Mid 2011), macOS Sierra (10.12.3), 3.4Ghz Intel i7 32GB FCPX 10.3.2

Hi Diane,

Jumping in because I have the same problem - in my case the mail app consumes 3-500% CPU. And it *is* the mail app, not spotlight.

Also - mail client memory usage grows and grows until the system runs out of RAM and the client eventually crashes, which usually takes a day or two...
