Inserting Roman numerals and other numerals automatically

Hello!

I am writing my internship report and I'd like to be informed about how to insert page numbers automatically into my document.

Here are some pictures :

Here is what I want to do :

1- I want to number the first three pages with Roman numerals I, II, III

2- I want to number the remaining pages with 1, 2, 3 and I want Pages to do it automatically (This is a 130 pages report and I cannot put number for each page 🙂 )

Thanks

Hi Brock,

In the footer of the first page, click the Footer or Header location where you want the Roman page numbers to appear.

From the Insert Menu, choose Page Number.

In the Section panel of the Document Inspector (see button beside the Format brush), choose lower case Roman as the Style for the page numbers.

Click at the end of the text on page iii, and from the Insert menu, insert a Section Break.

Click in the same Footer or Header location on the first page after the Section Break.

In the Section panel of the Document Inspector:

  • Uncheck the box "Match Previous Section.
  • Set the Page numbering Format to 1, 2, 3
  • Click the Start at: button, and set the starting number to 1.

Results should resemble this example (reduced to 25% zoom):

Note the change from page iii to page 1.

Regards,

Barry
