When I wake up, phone requires passcode not Touch ID

Anyone know why this is? It hasn’t been six days since my last time entering the pin...my gut says my wife has been trying to get onto my phone, but I can’t prove it...is there any other way this could be happening overnight? Also, it was only 5 hours since I last used the phone.

Hi OPXur,

From About Touch ID advanced security technology - Apple Support

You must enter your passcode or password for additional security validation:

  • after you restart your iPhone, iPad, or Mac;
  • when more than 48 hours have passed from the last time you unlocked your device;
  • to add or delete a fingerprint to use with Touch ID;
  • to change the iPhone or iPad passcode or Mac system password, and for other security settings like FileVault on your Mac;
  • when there have been more than five unrecognized Touch ID authorization attempts in a row; and
  • after you log out of your Mac.

So anything of these should have happened for the iPhone to ask for your passcode or password.

I hope this helps.
