"On My iPhone" option missing in Files App

Can anyone help me on this problem? I am using iPhone 6 and running iOS11.

In the files app I cannot see any option for files on my iPhone. I went to edit location and it just doesn't show there also.

I also tried taking a random file and tried using option "save to file". In the available locations the iPhone option now shows but the "Add" button is greyed.

Am I supposed to do some settings?

Actually, it does solve your problem. On my iPhone only appears when you have compatible apps. The "folders" that appear actually represent the local storage managed by apps that sync with the Files app. Download Pages, create a document, and you'll see the folder representing Pages. The Files app has no local storage of its own. It just lets you access the storage of the other apps. You can only create new folders inside the storage of the other apps.

Had the same problem, tried to save a word doc and pdf file to "on my iphone" location. Which wasn't showing up, only iCloud Drive.

I resolved by installing the "Adobe Acrobat" app, and then from within mail, when selecting the appropriate attachments, choosing "save to files" , the "On My iPhone" location showed up and was able to save both word doc and pdf file to my local storage.

Hope this helps someone.

Hi SidRose01. No, you cannot, because Photos is not one of the apps that syncs with Files.

The Files app is basically an updated iCloud Drive app, extended to interface with other cloud apps, and with some other apps. That's all it is. If you're looking for different features, you need one of the file managers from the app store, like FileExplorer or Documents 6.
