Elevation Gain on Apple Watch 3 Nike Run Club?

I just bought the new Apple Watch 3 because I was so excited it had an altimeter. I love looking at things like elevation gain during my runs. I went on my first run using just my watch and not my phone only to see elevation gain was not captured. How can I fix this? It was a huge reason why I bought the watch. Thanks!

Hi

I suggest that you consult Nike's support resources and/or contact Nike for assistance with questions concerning the Nike+ Run Club app and its features.

If the feature is not yet supported by Nike's app (which has not been updated since July), you may wish to consider using the built-in Workout app. When using the Workout app on Apple Watch Series 3 models, elevation gain is recorded for Outdoor Run workouts without needing to take your paired iPhone along:

Hi Jonathan,

Thank you for the response and willingness to help out; however none of the above had worked prior to me posting this question. I have since returned the Apple Watch and hope that the next round will be better.

I had reached out to Nike Support and they told me that the Nike Apple Watch release should fix this issue. Maybe and perhaps, but I had done tests using RunKeeper and the built-in workout app without my iPhone near, and neither of those tracked elevation either, so I found that hard to believe.

As it was, I was nearing my 14-day grace period and promptly returned the watch. Maybe I just had a faulty watch (I even consulted Apple Help Chat and they were not sure what was happening, either). Nevertheless, I bought a Fitbit Ionic, which has been able to do everything I need it to do and more.

Hi,

I have the same issue with my AW3 Nike+.

I use only the Apple workout app.

I made lot of runs and outdoor bike with or without my iPhone.

Sometimes the gain elevation is recorded (I can see it on my AW during the workout and at the end I have the value in the workout app on the iPhone).

And sometimes it remains to 0 during all the workout and no elevation gain in the iphone workout app at the end.

Do you think it is an hardware issue? Or Software?
