I recently upgraded my MacBook Pro Retina 15" (Mid 2014) to OS X High Sierra.
I have been using Windows 10 with bootcamp, and I have deleted this partition before upgrading.
After upgrading, bootcamp assistant keeps crashing when I click "Next" on the first page(three checkboxes regarding creation of USB boot disk, downloading support software, installing).
How can I resolve this problem?

I found out the problem. It was caused by the USB that I was using. I tried with another USB, and it works.

Just to add to the USB stick being the problem: I've have Bootcamp Assistant crash repeatedly on 10.13 with or without a USB drive it. However, the moment that my USB drive was formatted to HFS, Bootcamp Assistant accepted it and continued...

I had the same problem as well, I found out that you can only use an external hard drive. A usb doesn't work anymore for some reason. If you don't want an crashing bootcamp after clicking 'next', use an external hard drive instead of an usb. I used a 2 tb, and that worked for me. For some reason bootcamp doesn't support usb anymore... I hope apple fixes this
You can "fix" the problem with this workaround: format the USB pendrive in FAT32 using Disk Utility before open the bootcamp utility.
I had the same problem. Formatted my thumbdrive to mac os journaled and it worked fine after that.
It looks like this happens when you have a USB pendrive that already contains Windows.
If you format/re-partition it in any format compatible with macOS the tool doesn't crash anymore.
I had the same problem too. My thumb drive was formatted FAT32. I reformatted as FAT. Seems to solve the issue.
A USB2 flash drive works, but a USB3 flash drive will not work.

Can you boot from an external disk with the previous version of macOS you have? You will also need to revert APFS to native HFS+.
Can you try to Build your own Windows 10 Bootcamp USB Installer and create a standard FAT partition via Disk Utility?
Use Disk Utility to Erase the pendrive
1˚ - Erase as Journaled Its break the problem for Mac (if you just try the second step won't resolve)
2˚ - Erase again as FAT
Its resolve for my Mac.

Do you have any other external storage devices connected to the Mac?
From macOS Terminal, can you post the output of
diskutil list
Solution : Format USB with MS-DOS Fat format. It will solve the issue.
