Red silhouette on all option bars in High Sierra (Transparency?)

Red silhouette on all option bars in High Sierra (Transparency?)
Hardware Specs:

  • Model: MacBook Pro 15'(Retina, Mid 2012),
  • Processor: 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7
  • Memory: 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
  • Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 4000 1536 MB

Software Specs:

macOS High Sierra 10.13 (17A365)

Problem:

  • Red Silhouette and borders on all menu bars option & right click while fading out.
  • Sometimes the options fade slower (laggish)

Since my upgrade to macOS High Sierra, I've been experiencing this sort of red-pink silhouette on menu bars while fading out. It seems to affect all options on menu bars & right click options (suggesting it to be something to do with transparency?). Sometimes the faded options responded slower than before (Sierra). It doesn't seem to affect on Finder windows at the moment.

I've tried PRAM reset but to no avail. Not sure if anyone else is experiencing this or is it some sort of new feature in High Sierra of which i could necessarily turn off?

Sincerely hope there's a solution to this. Thanks!

It seems that its really about Transparency stuff.

Maybe sth to do with graphics like you guys've guessed.

Open System Preferences > Accessibility > Display > Tick off "Reduce Transparency"

This somehow solved my red menu problem. 🙂

I think this is supposed to be a UI feature, but it is really a problem. When the menus fade away, they turn red, and on a fast computer it looks like a red flash. That's very distressing to me, because I'm supposed to go to the emergency room if I see unexpected flashes of light, and these are worse, because they are the color of blood. I know what they are now, but they are very distressing. I have already reduced transparency and the effect remains. Both on a 2012 MacBook Pro and a 2017 iMac.

Another workaround: Uncheck "Automatic Graphics Switching" in Energy Saver preferences.

Designated graphics means trouble for this old battery (mid-2012 pro retina), but end to sickly pink screen hue.

(solution found via beta testing forum: macOS 10.13 High Sierra - Bugs and bug fixes | Page 13 | MacRumors Forums)

edit: Did not see BurrChi's response earlier. Keeping original post for link to list of other bugs/fixes and for including location to turn off Automatic Graphics Switching (System Preferences > Energy Saver).

follow-up: It seems to be the combination that's the trouble. Turning off Reduce Transparency allows me to use Automatic Graphics Switching without the red hue, and vice versa.

Hello

Have you been able to sort this out. I have only one graphics card (Intel) so the option to use NVIDIA would not work. When I disable "Reduce Transparency" in Accessibility --> Display, the red ghosting disappears. However, I do not like the transparent pull down menus, etc., so I would like to have the Reduce Transparency option on...

Any ideas if this can be fixed. Thanks. JR
