I’ve upgraded my iPad Pro to iOS11. I have a Smart Keyboard and when I’m in the Mail app, I’m unable to delete messages with the delete key. All the other shortcuts work but not the delete key. I thought it was the keyboard so I tried it in other apps and it’s fine. I even bought another Smart Keyboard just to test and still it doesn’t work. Does anyone have the same issue?

Ironically, we don't even have to type anything into the search box. Just display it, push "delete" even with the search box empty and the button works--for a time. Maybe that is Apple's fix!!
It still doesn’t work correctly in iOS 11.2.6 either, even though it says one of the fixes was for connecting to devices.
The only way I can get it to work is to hard reboot the iPad Pro again.

The solution from dcj07 worked perfectly. Do a search inside of mail and the delete key starts to work again. Incredible! Thank you!
Same issue since I’ve owned my rig (since November, 2017). I detach the keyboard, close the Mail app, reattach the keyboard, and power up the app. Most times, it works. I don’t like workarounds.😠
