Keeping specific iphone backups

Hi,

I would like to keep the current backup of my iphone to go back to, and I would like to continue making new backups. Is there a way to keep that one backup? Right now I'm reluctant to plug in my phone at all because it will immediately overwrite that backup I would like to keep.

I read something in an old post here about renaming the Backup folder in Application Support/MobileSync, but also read it might not be possible to restore from that renamed backup.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Don't know about CCC, but TM archives all files that have changed on the ** disk as long as space is available. This would include the iPhone backups which are on your computer and are a result of backing up with iTunes.

it's not saving the older backups. In iTunes prefs, there is always only one backup, the most recent one. tried twice, just now.

I misunderstood: to back up the computer, I use both Time Machine and Carbon Copy Cloner. This particular backup is only on Time Machine. There is a backup from half an hour earlier on CCC that might be good enough as well.

Thanks, so I would get them by restoring the MobileSync folder in ~/Library/Application Support and then restoring the backup from iTunes?

This would make some sense to not store these older backups twice, on the HD and TM.

This one backup is an iTunes backup to Computer, not iCloud. I triggered it manually, I think, but Automatic backup to Computer was on, so it could have been automatic as well.

Hi FelipeV, I'd still be interested in how to keep a specific iphone backup while continuing making backups. I have both time machine and CCC backups. thanks!
